My question is how finely grated do the carrots need to be? I hand grated them with my crummy hand grater bc I don't have a food processor and the chunks are relatively course. Will it be okay?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10572574445582710032noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4728620799073621079.post-43010724748368196692014-06-01T06:23:00.589-07:002014-06-01T06:23:00.589-07:00Thank you, Sherrylynne,

Can't wait for the day I can grown my own pumpkins though. :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09931350240548374803noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4728620799073621079.post-12326203731733901202014-05-30T13:26:33.462-07:002014-05-30T13:26:33.462-07:00Hello,

I add 1/2 c of pumpkin puree to my chile.......and it gives such a rich flavor, but my family never suspects it is so healthy. It does add a bit to the cost, but worth it.
may your days be infused with harmony.
slmAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09040736586214961907noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4728620799073621079.post-57027074572175121902014-01-12T18:14:07.089-08:002014-01-12T18:14:07.089-08:00I made this tonight and wanted to let you know tha...I made this tonight and wanted to let you know that it was a hit at our house. I only had one can of tomatoes, so I added a little extra beef broth to mine. I was very excited to see how all the veggies cooked down and became invisible. I was able to finely dice the carrots, bell peppers and onion in my food processor and that made things super easy. This was my first try at using dry beans in a chili and WOW. I've made a ton of chili in my day, and have tried many many recipes. This one is my new favorite. I will never go back to using canned kidney beans ever again!! These dry red beans were fantastic. Thanks for another wonderful recipe!Niamhhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17313406267872909986noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4728620799073621079.post-26191672853314715042013-09-23T08:43:18.658-07:002013-09-23T08:43:18.658-07:00Hi Alyssa,

I'm not sure why it won't fit for you. One option might be adding a little less water to accomodate the tomatoes. Good luck!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09931350240548374803noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4728620799073621079.post-87521966634830317042013-09-20T21:27:38.433-07:002013-09-20T21:27:38.433-07:00how are you able to fit both cans of crushed tomat...how are you able to fit both cans of crushed tomatoes and the water? i've made this recipe twice and can only fit one can of crushed tomatoes.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4728620799073621079.post-28416612342206139762013-08-09T07:17:32.090-07:002013-08-09T07:17:32.090-07:00He'll have no clue they're in there. :)He'll have no clue they're in there. :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09931350240548374803noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4728620799073621079.post-57975829210594564192013-08-09T07:05:02.756-07:002013-08-09T07:05:02.756-07:00I have a very picky (husband) eater. I guess since I use dried beans so much, and am aware of all the different kinds, I didn't even think to make a distinction (since kidney and red beans are two different types of beans). I'll clarify it in my post. I would caution however about using kidney beans in the crock pot. I know you mention "red beans" but often enough people associate kidney beans with chili. Red kidney beans in particular need to be brought to 180 degrees which most crock-pots on low does not accomplish. Nobody wants to spread sickness! :)

http://www.home-ec101.com/cooking-kidney-beans-slow-cooker-crock-pot/Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4728620799073621079.post-5788594015413124502013-01-19T11:24:41.635-08:002013-01-19T11:24:41.635-08:00I'm having fun checking out your site.
